Gilbert A. Schaffnit graduated with his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in 1974. He then went on to graduate from the University of Florida, College of Law in 1977. He has practiced criminal defense in Alachua County for 33 years. His practice focuses on Federal and State criminal defense and personal injury cases. He is a sole practitioner with a select number of cases that receive his individual attention.
Mr. Schaffnit is a member of the Florida Bar, the Federal Bar Association, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Florida, College of Law. Mr. Schaffnit has spoken nationally at conferences concerning criminal defense and the prosecution of sex offenses including the Federal Sentencing Guidelines as they apply to child pornography prosecution.
