Florida Man Sentenced to 215 Years in Prison for Child Porn Possession

Child porn crimes can result in lengthy prison sentences. A Florida man has seen this for himself. He was recently sentenced to a whopping 215 years in prison for child pornography possession.
The 76-year-old Michael Francis Coburn was sentenced to 215 years in the Florida Department of Corrections in Citrus County. He was charged with 23 felonies in total, including 10 felony counts of child pornography possession (10 or more Images), three additional counts of child porn possession, and 10 counts of transmission of child pornography by electronic device. The images showed children as young as 2 years old engaging in sexual activity.
The man was arrested in October 2024 after an extensive investigation by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit, in collaboration with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The investigation began when a detective received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating possible child porn images linked to a residence in Citrus County. The detective used advanced investigative techniques to confirm that the suspect was in possession numerous images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
Following these findings, the detective and the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) executed a search warrant at the man’s home. Detectives seized several digital storage devices during the search.
The man had uploaded sexually explicit videos to a social media platform. The videos showed adult men having sex with young girls between the ages of 5 and 10 years old. The uploaded content was uploaded to the Instagram platform and later flagged by Meta. The reported user’s name appeared as video_guy_13. The warrant states that the cyber tip was submitted by Instagram, Inc. in reference to child sexual abuse material stored in Meta Platforms Inc. infrastructure.
On October 25, the man was arrested and booked into the Citrus County Detention Facility. On November 11, he pled not guilty to the charges. Soon after, the state attorney’s office added additional child porn charges.
In April, the man changed to an open plea of no contest. This meant he forfeited a jury trial. He did not make an agreement with the state and let a judge decide his fate.
The state attorney stated that law enforcement officials had collected 37.4 gigabytes of child porn during their investigation. To compare, if you were to use this much data on a cellular plan, you would be able to browse the web for nearly 4,000 hours.
