Florida Woman Indicted on Child Porn Possession, Production, and Distribution Charges

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida has announced the indictment of a 26-year-old Alachua County woman. The woman has been indicted on multiple federal child pornography charges.
The woman faces 23 counts of alleged child porn possession, production, and distribution. The woman allegedly shared inappropriate images of minors online. She also took nude photos of a toddler and shared them online.
The woman was arrested and charged with 64 counts of child pornography distribution, 10 counts of child pornography possession, two counts of manufacturing child pornography, and one count of using a two-way communication device to commit a felony.
The woman appeared in federal court for her arraignment. A jury trial is scheduled for June 17.
If convicted of the crimes, the woman faces significant prison time. Penalties include up to 20 years for possession, 15 to 30 years in prison for production offenses, and 5 to 20 years for distribution.
The charges stem from a grand jury indictment, which is not evidence of guilt. The woman is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. The investigation was conducted by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations.
How Severe Are Federal Child Porn Charges?
Federal child pornography charges are among the most serious offenses prosecuted in the federal criminal justice system. Convictions can lead to lengthy prison sentences, substantial fines, long periods of supervised release, and mandatory sex offender registration.
The severity of the penalties depends on several factors, including:
- Whether the charge involves possession, receipt, distribution, or production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
- The age of the children depicted.
- The number of images or videos involved.
- Whether the material depicts violence, sadistic conduct, or very young children.
- Any prior criminal history, especially prior sex offense convictions.
- Whether there is evidence of sharing, trading, or producing the material.
Possession charges can result in years of federal imprisonment. Distribution charges typically carry harsher penalties and may involve mandatory minimum prison sentences. Production offenses are among the most severely punished federal crimes.
Federal prosecutors and courts treat these offenses very seriously because the creation and circulation of such material is viewed as contributing to the exploitation and abuse of children. Federal investigations often involve extensive digital forensic analysis of computers, phones, cloud accounts, messaging apps, and internet activity.
A conviction can also have lifelong consequences beyond incarceration, including:
- Sex offender registration requirements.
- Restrictions on employment and housing.
- Limits on contact with minors.
- Difficulty obtaining professional licenses.
