Cybersecurity Director for Broward Health in Possession of 10,000+ Child Porn Files

Those who work in IT roles such as cybersecurity should know what acts can jeopardize their position like view and download child pornography materials. But the urge to view these materials can be strong, causing a person to be investigated and arrested.

The cybersecurity director for Broward Health is facing accusations after he was found in possession of thousands of computer files containing child porn. The 41-year-old man was recently arrested and charged with 10 counts of child porn possession as well as one count of computer pornography. Broward Health immediately suspended him from his role and is fully cooperating with the investigation.

In the man’s bond hearing, the court found probable cause and ordered the man to be held on a $105,000 bond: $10,000 for the first 10 counts, plus an additional $5,000 for the 11th count. He was also given a Level 1 pre-trial release with an electronic monitor with the condition that he was not allowed to have access to any devices with internet access. He posted bond and was released the next day.

The hard drives were discovered during a home decluttering. While the man still resided at his home at the time of the investigation, an associate had access to his home because they were preparing to put the house on the market. On June 26, the associate was organizing the home when she found two SD cards, two hard drives, and a cellphone. All contained what she believed to be child porn materials.

On July 8, a judge approved a search warrant for the devices. The detective reviewed the forensic extraction the next day. They discovered a total of 10,861 images and videos across the devices. There were approximately 7,891 images depicting “child erotica” that featured young girls between the ages of 5 and 12 in sexually suggestive poses.

There were also several images and videos taken from children at a public pool. In addition, there were several videos of Kull engaging in sexual acts with a sex doll that was approximately 3 feet tall.

The forensics report found another 178 files of animated child pornography that depicted children as young as toddlers and 10 more files of girls between the ages of 5 and 15 engaging in sexual acts.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at the man’s home. While searching the man’s vehicle, investigators found a laptop in the trunk that appeared to have been pried open and hit with a hammer. The hard drives were removed and investigators were unable to find them. But based on the previous evidence, the man was arrested and booked into Broward Sheriff’s Office Jail.
