Florida Woman Arrested for Cyberstalking State Attorney’s Office Staff

People engage in cyberstalking for a variety of reasons. In many cases, it stems from a desire to exert control, seek revenge, or maintain unwanted contact with a person. Some cyberstalkers are motivated by obsession or fixation, while others act out of jealousy, anger, or rejection. Mental health issues, such as paranoia or delusional thinking, can also play a role.

On July 1, a Florida woman was arrested for cyberstalking. The Monroe County State Attorney’s Office announced the arrest of 51-year-old Luiza Laura Sucharska on charges of cyberstalking under Florida law. The case arose from a string of harassing and threatening emails she sent to a staff member of the State Attorney’s Office over a span of four days.

Between June 26 and June 30, Sucharska sent dozens of unsolicited messages that grew increasingly disturbing, even after she was explicitly told to stop. The emails contained incoherent accusations, references to foreign governments, and troubling threats. In one of the most alarming messages, she wrote:

“Imagine what it does to the human body if a column can collapse. The person’s body suffers, does it? Collagen in the skin gets broken, muscles collapse? Heart attacks?? Am I far from the truth?”

The threatening communications triggered immediate safety concerns within the office and prompted a formal investigation by the Key West Police Department, assisted by investigators from the State Attorney’s Office.

On June 30, officers contacted Sucharska at her home in Key West. After being read her Miranda rights, she agreed to speak with investigators and admitted to sending the emails, saying she felt betrayed by the legal system and wanted to vent her emotions.

She also voluntarily allowed officers to search her phone, personally showing them numerous additional emails she had sent over several days. These messages reflected the same troubling tone, confirming a pattern of sustained and unwanted communication.

Sucharska was arrested and booked into the Monroe County Detention Center without incident. During the investigation, authorities also discovered she was not properly documented, leading to an immigration hold. This hold prevents her release, even if she pays the $17,000 bond set in the case. Prosecutors are continuing to review the matter, and additional charges may follow.

State Attorney Dennis Ward emphasized the seriousness of the threats, stating that he was not going to allow anyone to threaten staff without taking legal action. He said that threats of violence, no matter how bizarre or indirect, will not be tolerated, no matter to whom they are targeted. Staff must be able to do their jobs without fear of intimidation.
