New Jersey Woman Pleads Guilty to Creating Child Porn in Florida

Child pornography crimes often encompass one of three categories: viewing, distribution, and production. Many people are guilty of viewing child porn, but it has to originate somewhere. Someone has created it, and those convicted of producing child porn face harsh penalties.
This has recently happened to a young woman from New Jersey. The 20-year-old was accused of sexually assaulting a child in Florida while her boyfriend filmed the abuse. She pled guilty in a Florida federal court.
The couple sexually abused an 8-year-old girl while visiting family in Orlando during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2023. Both were charged last March with using and coercing a minor to produce child porn.
The woman pled guilty to receiving, distributing, and producing child sexual abuse material. She faces up to 20 years in prison. She is currently in custody in a federal prison while her sentencing date is pending. Her boyfriend’s case is still underway.
Her 27-year-old boyfriend filmed the woman sexually abusing the child while they were in Florida. The child told FBI agents that the woman had sexually assaulted her at least four times during the two weeks that they stayed in Florida.
The abuse started when the victim was 7 years old. The woman would videochat with the child and tell her to perform sexual acts. Before the Thanksgiving visit, the woman sent her boyfriend 19 videos and three images showing the girl being sexually abused. The couple also performed sexual intercourse with each other while on a video call with the child.
Production of Child Pornography in Florida
Lawmakers find the exploitation of children used for producing child pornography to be harmful to the physiological, emotional, and mental health of the children depicted. Because of this, the punishment for persuading or enticing a minor to engage in sexually explicit activity that leads to child pornography production is severe.
Under the federal law, it is an offense to produce, distribute, or receive visual depictions that show minors involved in sexually explicit activity. This is true even if the images are drawings, paintings, or cartoons. Title 18 §1466A(a)(2) prohibits possession, production, or distribution of a visual depiction of any kind that depicts an image that is a minor engaged in sexual activity, and lacks literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.
No one should ever take any criminal charges lightly, especially ones involving child porn. If you are facing charges for producing child pornography, you will need an experienced defense attorney right away.
