Palm Beach Gardens Council Candidate Facing Scrutiny for Cyberstalking Past

Chuck Millar has become well-known in the Palm Beach Gardens community for his involvement in local government. He currently serves on the city’s Planning and Zoning Board and is looking to be elected to the City Commission.

Because it’s his first run at public office, Millar is being heavily scrutinized. His legal history shows that he faced accusations of cyberstalking and harassment seven years ago. An ex-girlfriend sought a temporary restraining order against him after he sent her threatening text messages.

While never formally charged with a crime, Palm Beach County Clerk records show his ex-girlfriend filed a petition seeking protection against him for stalking. The petition requested that Millar stay at least 500 feet from her and her two daughters, as well as the K-12 private school they attended.

The ex broke up with Millar on March 4, 2018. From that day until March 15, 2018, Millar sent her dozens of texts and emails. The ex never responded. Some of the messages were sexual in nature. In many of the texts, Millar implied that he was tracking the woman’s online dating accounts. Millar, who is now 65 years old, was 58 at the time he sent these messages.

The ex-girlfriend claims she and Millar only dated for a month. During that time, she had broken up with him twice because of his violent temper and outbursts.

On March 4, 2018, Millar sent his ex a lengthy text after she broke up with him. He said he takes responsibility for his faults. He called the woman his “true love” and claimed he would have taken a bullet for her. But then later that day, he did a 180 and sent an angry text using multiple swear words. He told the woman she had “serious mental health issues.”

Miller sent a text the next day talking about the woman’s sex life as well as the woman’s domestic battery case. She blocked him after that. Millar then sent multiple emails about the woman’s dating life and suggested she had a new boyfriend.

The woman described Millar’s actions as “creepy” and “very frightening.” She had even instructed a security guard at her gated community to call the police if he showed up.

Millar admitted to sending the texts. He regretted his actions and the whole ordeal. The situation ended on March 29, 2018, when the 15th Judicial Circuit instructed him to stop contacting his ex. The case was then dismissed. Millar says he followed the court’s direction and has since undergone counseling and treatment.
