Skate Park Supervisor Facing Child Porn Charges

Looking at child pornography is frowned upon, but it’s a common crime in Florida and other states. This crime does not discriminate. Men and women of all ages, occupations, and ethnicities have been charged with child porn crimes.

A skate park supervisor in Florida has recently been arrested on child porn charges. The 62-year-old man, who worked for the city of Melbourne, was arrested for multiple charges on November 5.

The Palm Bay man was placed in jail on a $175,000 bond. He bonded out of jail the following afternoon. In a strange twist, he was then arrested and put in jail once again after police went to his home and found additional evidence. Police charged the man with two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance and nine counts of possession of child pornography.

The man is now in jail on a $465,000 bond. The city is completing an investigation. In the meantime, the man has been suspended without pay. He has had his access revoked to city facilities and must stay off city property.

The man has worked on the operations of the skate park since 2018. At the time he was hired, the city ran background checks on him. Including state and national criminal history record checks and fingerprints. Nothing turned up that showed any indication that he was into child porn.

What Draws People to Child Porn?

People know that looking at child porn is wrong, so why do they do it? One main reason: curiosity. Nobody wants to become addicted to child porn. Some people only expect to look at it one time. They see the shock value but then they cannot look away. They find images of children engaging in more extreme sexual acts and they want to see more. They end up spending their time searching for different types of images.

They become addicted even though it’s taboo. They become addicted because it’s taboo. They know it’s wrong, but they get a rush from it.

Some people view child porn as a means of escape. They may be dealing with bad jobs or marriages. They may have difficulty maintaining relationships with people their own age, so they look to sexually explicit images of children.

In some cases, people don’t realize they are viewing child porn. They are lied to by others. They believe a girl posting photos is 18 or 19 years old when she is really only 15 or 16. Soliciting sex from these girls turns a person into a sex offender and puts them in prison for decades. Is that fair?
