Substitute Teacher Arrested on Child Porn Charges

A substitute teacher from Miami-Dade County was recently arrested on child pornography charges. Homestead Police had investigated the man for almost a year.
The investigation began in October 2023 after the 37-year-old man uploaded a file containing child porn. Homestead Police received a cyber tip related to this from the National Center of Exploited and Missing Children. The explicit image in question allegedly involved a girl who was about 10 years old.
The man was arrested in early September and was taken into custody after police determined he was in possession of “concerning material related to child pornography.” Police say the teacher is cooperating with investigators.
The man was booked into jail on September 4. He has been charged with promoting sexual performance by a child. He was employed by Miami-Dade County Public Schools as a substitute teacher. The teacher primarily worked at Air Base K-8 Center, located at 12829 SW 272nd Street in Miami-Dade County.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools issued a statement on the man’s arrest. The school called the allegations concerning. Miami-Dade Schools Police assisted with the investigation and while the teacher is not employed by Miami-Dade County Public Schools, he will no longer be able to serve as a substitute teacher in the district. The district is focused on providing a safe school environment for students and employees.
