Woman Arrested for Cyberstalking Florida Teen

It’s easy to stalk people nowadays. You no longer have to follow someone around in person. You can effectively cyberstalk someone, which means using computers and other electronic devices to find out someone’s location.
This is what an Alabama woman did to a Florida minor. The woman is accused of driving more than two hours to have sex with a minor. She was arrested by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office
after she called 911 to report underage drinking and smoking.
Deputies were called to a house in Santa Rosa Beach on Saturday to investigate a report the woman made. She claimed that there was a juvenile inside the house drinking and smoking.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with a 53-year-old woman from Leeds, Alabama.
The woman told deputies she drove from Orange Beach to check on a teenager who was friends with her son. She claimed she was worried about the teen and wanted to make sure he was okay. She said she found the teen’s location from someone’s account on Snapchat.
Deputies spoke to the juvenile. He told them he was scared of the woman because she was trying to have sex with him. He showed deputies text messages sent from the woman’s phone clearly stating she wanted to have sex with him. While reading the texts on the victim’s phone, the woman sent two pictures. The first was a picture of a patrol vehicle at the scene, while the other was of deputies standing in front of the house.
The deputies read the woman her rights. She spoke with them about the situation and allowed them access to her phone. Deputies could see she had deleted text messages from her conversation with the victim.
Deputies recovered the text messages and matched them with what was on the victim’s phone. At one point, the juvenile begged the woman not to come, as he did not want to see her.
The woman’s texts to the minor included the following: “I’m coming to see you. I’m already halfway there, so when I get there, do you wanna go to the club? I’ll go to the pub with you. Maybe I’ll pick you up a drink and get you drunk and take advantage of you, or maybe I won’t. Maybe I’ll just let you see me and then just turn around and go home.”
The woman was arrested for traveling to meet a minor for sex, cyberstalking, using an electronic device to solicit a child, and tampering with evidence. Her bond was set at $500,000.
